Tintagel Castle has spectacular locations on Cornwall's dramatic Atlantic coastland, it is a place of myths where the legend of King Arthur was born.
A few words about the King Artur: he was established as a king through the sword Excalibur in the stone episode, with the advice of the wizard Merlin. The legend speaks about the establishment of the fellowship of knights known as the Round Table and the associated code of chivalry and the defence of Britain agaist the Saxon tribes.
The walk on the Coastal Footpath to the castle is a beautiful and breathtaking experience.
The original castle was split in 2 by the force of the sea. Now, it is a ruin but it was served as a fortress and used by the King Artur in those long days. The owners of the property are the Duchy of Cornwall and it is maintained by the English Heritage.
